The Departed is a Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated 2006 American film by director Martin Scorsese, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin and Ray Winstone. It is a remake of the popular 2002 Hong Kong crime thriller Infernal Affairs. The Departed's screenplay was adapted by William Monahan and is based on the original script by Felix Chong and Siu Fai Mak. It received five Oscar Nominations for the 79th Annual Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director (Martin Scorsese), Best Supporting Actor (Mark Wahlberg), Best Adapted Screenplay (William Monahan) and Best Film Editing (Thelma Schoonmaker).
